This mask is used for "Kanawa", a Noh play that portrays the pain and anger of a woman betrayed by her husband. The focused eyes are tilted upwards and the horns just begin to grow. The mask represents vividly a woman who becomes a demon, driven by her growing jealousy and resentment.
It could be said that this character represents the step before completely transforming into Hannya.
